Cool, Calm and Camel

The colour I’m most coveting this winter is Camel.  It looks fabulous in a coat, cashmere sweater or leather pants/skirt.  It’s a colour that goes with everything but looks great on it’s own or worn together with different shades.  It also looks fabulous on blondes!  Here are a few pieces to get you inspired… Top image of Miranda Kerr, middle a cashmere sweater and bottom two bloggers.

Wrap It Up!

Sometimes a new trend emerges and although it’s really subtle, it starts to appear everywhere.  I’m talking skinny scarves and chockers as seen at Mary Katrantzou (below), Chloe and Dior.  Hight Street stores such as Witchery and Bardot are also doing versions of this starting from$20.00.  I love this look and it’s an easy way to add a little something extra to your outfit.

Active Wear

It seems wherever you look people are in ‘active wear’ and not necessarily going to the gym.  There are so many cool looks from brands like Nike, Adidas, Stella McCartney and The Upside to name a few, that you can now easily go from your yoga class then out for lunch without changing and still look presentable.  A few simple layering techniques is the way to go.  Take this look from Hannah Bronfman for example, who’s thrown a leather jacket and bucket bag over a tracksuit. Or the Durant dress from The Upside that can be thrown over your workout gear (think bike shorts and crop top) then take you out to lunch or dinner while still wearing your sneakers.  And then you have days where you just stay in your gym gear all day, guilty as charged!

The cold shoulder

Unless you have been living under a rock lately (one that hides you away from all fashion trends) you’ll have noticed shoulder baring tops are everywhere.  So, for those that haven’t made this an addition to their summer wardrobe and are looking for some inspiration, here’s a few that might get you running to the shops.  They look great worn with jeans and shorts and can be taken into winter with leather pants or a pencil skirt. Top Gun

I hate to say it, but winter is around the corner and that means needing a warm, cozy jacket.  One style that has been seen on every It Girl, model and fashion blogger of late is the ‘Top Gun’ style bomber jacket.  Available from many brands including TopShop, 3.1 Philip Lim and army disposal stores. So put on a pair of aviators and make like Maverick or Kate, Gigi, Kim, Kendal et al in your new bomber jacket!

Bag It!

The new year is the perfect time to do a wardrobe clean-out and update your look.  A refresh is a great way to start your sartorial look for 2016 and what piece really pulls an outfit together?  A bag! I love all styles from a tote, clutch, shopper, shoulder bag and cross body.  So here’s a few bags to inspire your next look. A simple elegant Valentino Rock Stud bag (that can be worn on the shoulder or cross body), a tan Chloe tassel Bag and a Mansure Gavriel Bucket Bag.

Get Packing!

Packing for the holidays can be stressful. Whether you are going to a Summer or Winter climate, its all too easy to over pack for those ‘just in case’ moments.  The key is to be organised and plan ahead. My tips are:

  1. How many days are you going for?  For example, 5 days – then you really only need three outfits. If you pack the right pieces you can ‘mix n match’ and recycle two looks to make five and work them from day to night.  A little black dress or tailored pants are always handy.
  2. Lay everything out on your bed and work out outfits from head to toe.  Remember the saying ‘this goes with that’.
  3. Make a list and tick it off – passport √,  jacket √, shoes √, pants √, hair dryer √, bathroom supplies √, international plugs √ etc… when you are packing to go home, check your list again to make sure you haven’t left anything behind.
  4. Pack outfits in clear zippered pouches – it keeps clothing clean and safe, gives you more space and helps you find everything at the other end.
  5. Always pack precious pieces like jewellery in a seperate pouch and carry in your carry-on luggage.
  6. Remember: The lighter you pack, the better the holiday.  Lugging around heavy bags is no fun and you’ll have room to shop!

Black, Again!

There is one colour combo that I don’t believe anyone ever gets sick of – black on black!  I love this look on model-off-duty Edita Vilkeviciute on the streets of sunny Paris.  Simple, chic and always in style.  Wearing a black tank, black pants and espadrilles.  Below are shoes from Valentino.
